Patios & Paving

Patios & paving in Sutton Coldfield, laid to last

Porcelain, natural stone and sandstone patios planned around how you use the garden, built on properly prepared ground with drainage considered from the start.

Patio installation

A good patio starts below the surface

The finish you see is only as good as the preparation beneath it. We excavate to a suitable depth, lay and compact a prepared sub-base, and set paving to considered falls so surface water runs away from the house rather than pooling on the terrace.

Edging, levels and thresholds are planned alongside the rest of the garden, so the patio connects naturally to lawns, planting, steps and paths instead of sitting as a separate slab.

Materials & detailing

Choosing the right paving for your garden

We talk through appearance, maintenance and how each material suits the space during the site visit.

Porcelain paving

Large-format porcelain gives a clean, contemporary finish that is low-maintenance and consistent in colour, well suited to terraces that link directly to the house.

Natural stone & Indian sandstone

Indian sandstone and limestone bring natural variation and texture, working well in more traditional settings or softer, planted schemes.

Granite setts & edging

Granite setts can be used for borders, banding and edging, adding definition and helping paving meet lawns, beds and driveways neatly.

Falls, drainage, steps & levels

We set paving to falls, plan drainage where needed and handle changes in level with steps and retaining edges, so the patio is practical in all weather.

Questions

Common questions

Which is better, porcelain or natural stone?
Neither is right for every garden. Porcelain is consistent and easy to keep clean; natural stone offers character and variation. We recommend options based on your style, the setting and how much upkeep you want.
Can a new patio be joined to steps, lawns and planting?
Yes. Patios are usually part of a wider plan, and we coordinate paving with steps, lawns, planting, fencing and drainage so everything works as one garden.
